BOOT CARE GUIDE
Boot Care Guide
A few simple habits can help protect the shape, finish and overall appearance of your boots over time.
Store Them Properly
Proper storage helps protect the leather and keeps the boot from losing its shape between wears.
Keep boots in a dry, dimly lit area away from excess heat, direct sunlight and moisture.
Avoid wearing the same pair every day when possible. Giving boots time to rest helps moisture dry naturally.
Use tissue paper, newspaper or a cedar shoe tree to help the boot hold its form without stretching the leather.
Clean After Wear
Regular light cleaning is better than waiting until dirt and residue build up.
Use a horsehair brush after wear to remove loose dirt and dust before it settles into the leather.
For remaining dirt or residue, wipe the surface gently with a damp cloth. Avoid soaking the leather.
Allow the boots to dry naturally before brushing or buffing. Keep them away from direct heat while drying.
Condition the Leather
Conditioning helps keep leather from becoming overly dry, but more product is not always better.
Choose leather-care products carefully and avoid products containing alcohol.
Apply a small amount evenly over the boot using your fingers, a soft cloth or an appropriate brush.
Condition about 3–4 times annually, or when the leather begins to feel dry. Avoid over-conditioning.
A Few Things to Avoid
Brush. Dry. Condition. Preserve.
Keep the routine simple and consistent. Regular light care is the best way to help your boots maintain their shape and appearance over time.
